dual button for one touch input

I use an QT110 as touch sensor which is connected with a wire (ca 80 cm) to a touch button and it works perfect.
Now I have added to another touch button (wire ca 20 cm) to the same touch sensor input but now the response is not as fast and reliable as before. For a response you need to touch either button much longer.
I've tried several things to improve this but without succes. The gain is set on max
What can i do to improve this?
